EXECUTUIVE FUNCTION  COACHING

What is Executive Function Coaching for Students?

Executive Function coaching is a specialized and highly effective type of academic coaching that teaches students the skills they need to become successful, independent learners. Judi's focus is to prepare students for an increasingly complex world by providing them the keys to productivity and independence. Unlike traditional tutoring, she uses current academic challenges as a springboard to teach the skills necessary for long-term success in school and beyond. Judi is an educator with a master's degrees & extensive experience supporting students with ADHD and Executive Function challenges. She offers personalized solutions to help students with homeworkreadingwritingtest prep, and other academic challenges. She even works with students who might be resistant to change

Coaching is not just for ‘failing students.’  It is for students who want to learn to be the best they can be with a set of tools that will carry them through life in both the work world and the social world.  Everyone can benefit from a coach who can help you look at your learning style and help you work more efficiently to enjoy life with greater ease and flow. However, students who struggle with Executive Function Disorder [or ADHD], really do need a coach who understands this learning style difference and can help in a positive and motivating manner.

What is Executive Function Coaching for Adults?

Executive Function coaching addresses the academic, vocational, emotional and interpersonal life difficulties that are often a result of ADD symptoms and helps clients find ways to overcome these challenges. Through individualized or group assistance and support, Judi helps people concentrate on where they are now, where they want to be and how they can get there.

Judi helps people carry out the practical activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented and timely fashion. She helps the client learn practical skills and initiate change in his or her daily life.

As your coach she may help an adult with:

  • maintaining focus to achieve identified goals

  • translating abstract goals into concrete actions

  • building motivation and learning to find ways to use concrete and abstract rewards effectively

The following are examples of questions Judi may ask:

  • What changes do you want to make in your daily life?

  • What small steps can you take today in the direction of your goals?

  • How can you motivate yourself to take action towards this goal?

  • When must this action be completed?

  • What steps have you taken already, and when will you take the remaining steps?

  • How will you evaluate the impact of your plan?

Judi supports her clients by providing encouragement, feedback and practical suggestions to address specific challenges as well by supporting them and holding them accountable for following through on their goals. She may offer reminders or suggest time management methods. Regular meetings and check-ins are an essential part of the coaching process. These sessions can be conducted in-person, online, by phone, through Skype/FaceTime, by e-mail or by text message depending on the client’s preference. However, before the coaching process begins, the client and Judi should have an initial session that addresses issues such as client needs, expectations of the client and of her, fees and payments and length of time for the coaching contract.
